12.45pm – Meeting to discuss the season ahead, ask questions and elect our Captains.

1.00pm – Purchase uniforms.

Don’t forget the first round of Shield is on Saturday 8 October at Frankston.  Sandy usually sit around the bend near the high jump.  A number of committee will be tied up with APS competitions on this day and week 2, so it would be great if some of our older athletes could assist on this day with helping new members in explaining the procedures and what to do.

It’s not long now till the Summer Competition is upon us.  Athletics Victoria have now released dates and venues for Shield competition, along with dates for Championships and other events on the calendar.

To make sure you are ready to compete, please register, make sure you have your uniform ready and direct any enquiries to either Kathy our Secretary or Detsy our Registrar.  At Sandringham we encourage members to participate in Shield as well as individual competitions and become a true Sandy athlete.  Have a go at two or three events each week and get to know your fellow athletes.

Upon registering you are also asked to complete a couple of duties over the season.  Usually 2-3 hours and most likely twice throughout the season.  A roster will be posted to our facebook page closer to week 1 of Shield, so please check this weekly and ensure you complete your duty.  Without family assistance, weekly competitions can not take place.

All members are invited to the Special General Meeting of SAC to vote on the new Constitution that will bring us in line with the Incorporations Act of 2012.  Please ensure you have registered through the AV Registration portal and are a current member to be able to vote.

At the recent AGM it was decided to hold a separate meeting to discuss the Constitution and the changes we are making.  To vote the new Constitution in we need a quorum in attendance on the day and encourage all members to attend the clubrooms on the 5/6 to have your say.

The AGM was very successful last week and we congratulate all award winners.  To those who were unable to attend and may have been informed that you have won an award, we ask you to visit the clubrooms on the 5 June from 11.30am – 12 noon to collect your award

Winter season has begun and we would like to welcome aboard our Team Manager – Andrea Eastman and our Cross Country Captain – Annabelle Eastman.  One round has already begun and although we had a slight few hiccups prior to this round, we fielded an U18 Womens team who crossed the line in third place.  The next round is Round 2 and will be held on Saturday 7 May.  If you wish to register for this event, you will need to pay up your yearly subscription through the AV Registration portal and then register for the event through AV’s website.  If you enter, please inform Andrea that you will be competing as we may need to roster you on a duty on the day.

If you do register for the Cross Country Package with AV, please think about signing up for the combined cross country and track and field package as it is the most cost effective package and we really would love to see you compete all year round.

Keep your eyes posted for our senior athletes competing this weekend in Sydney at the nationals.  Looking forward to seeing some great results.

A huge congratulations to our very own Sophia Fighera on her selection to the Australian team for the World Junior Championships to be held in Poland in July.  Sophia will from part of the 4x400m relay team and we wish her the best at this event.  I think she was a bit excited at her selection!

Next season will see Sandringham start up a 40plus womens team and we have applied for a grant to help with costs of uniforms for the mums.
